Fire Extinguishers
Keep a properly functioning fire extinguisher in high risk areas including kitchens & workstations.
Smoke Alarm
Have a smoke alarm in every room, or at least one on each floor. Make sure your smoke alarm is tested monthly and replace batteries every two years. Lastly, replace your entire smoke alarm every 10 years after the manufacturing date.
Sprinkler Suppression
Inspect gauges in dry, pre-action and deluge systems at least once a week. If dealing with a wet pipe system gauge, a monthly inspection is highly recommended.
Electronics
Make sure work appliances are kept dry regularly. Have an electrician check for frayed wiring every wiring every four years.
Protect Valuables
If you can, try to keep valuables in a fireproof safe that can be accessible after a fire has occurred. This will prevent delays when exiting the building
Make a Plan
Have at least two exiting options and a designated meeting place in the event of a fire. Assign someone with calling 911 and accompanying those who may have difficulty evacuating the building. Most of all, practice these plans regularly.
